National Conference 2019

9th-13th December 2019

It’s that time of year again! NUS’s National Conference (NatCon) is approaching, and will be held at Federation University, Ballarat.

NatCon is the Annual General Meeting of NUS, and is a chance to debate policy, meet student representatives and activists from across Australia, and decide the direction for NUS into the future. New NUS representatives for 2020 will also be elected by delegates at National Conference.

Additional details

  • Buses will be provided between Melbourne and the conference venue.

  • Policy must be sent to the General Secretary to be compiled before Thursday the 21st of November. Policy must include a title, preamble, platform, action, mover and seconder to be accepted. More details about policy writing available here.Examples of how to write policy for conference here.

  • Delegates who are unable to attend conference may proxy their vote to another student. Proxy forms must be given to the conference organisers at nusnatcon@nus.asn.au and may be accepted in person when conference opens. Proxy forms available here

Nominations for all positions will close at 17:00 on Monday 9 December 2019. Please email returning office James Wangmann (at nusnatcon@nus.asn.au) for further details about how to nominate, and copies of nomination forms.

A Future Worth Fighting For

In the lead-up to the 2019 Federal Election, NUS is running a campaign to demand A Future Worth Fighting For. We’re asking for real policy change on a Federal level that will ensure the future of students and young people across the country.

We’re demanding:

  • A National Taskforce into Sexual Assault & Harassment at university

  • Real Action on Climate Change

  • A Fully Funded, Equitable and Accessible higher education systme

  • An end to student poverty

  • Affortable accommodation for all students
